Snapchat is planning to host a Lens Studio workshop (Opens in a new window) at SXSW tomorrow and another (Opens in a new window) at the Game Developers Conference (GDC) on March 21 to teach people about the tool. Utilizes existing software such as Snapchat’s Snap AR Snap Camera and Lens Builder to create a Video Conferencing Plugin using AR filters to enhance university ESL pronunciation training. When someone encounters a user-created lens in the carousel, they'll see an "i" icon, which they can tap for additional information about it. Starting later this month, users who submit a lens via Lens Studio will see an option to have their creation promoted in Snapchat's carousel. Competition for these spots will be fierce, however: "inclusion will be limited at first, with only a few artists featured periodically," according to Mashable. That could mean a whole lot of eyeballs on your name and work. Selected lenses will show the creator's name for all Snapchat users to potentially see.
